Having The Right Mind Set

Writen by Edmund Loh

I feel especially disturbed as I write. Actually, I have been longing to tell you this. I write this with the aim of opening your eyes to see what is happening out there that actually should not be happening.

I am very certain you have that more than 90% of the people who starts an Online Business will fail while the other small percentage will succeed. And my main concern of today is not the small percentage of people who succeed but rather the 90% of the people who did not.

If you would realize, the ratios very much apply the same to conventional businesses where we always hear that 9 in 10 businesses will fail every 5 years. People give many reasons for such phenomenon but the truth lies in the mind set of the business owner, offline or online.

While starting an Online Business has been made available to just anyone and everyone, even to average people like you and me, the failure rate remains just high.

Why is this happening?

Some people blame the products that they bought did not help them. Others point their fingers at the services they subscribe to. The rest find other excuses. If these people are to blame someone or something, it should be their mind set!

While people can fail in Internet Business for various reasons, I know well that the problem lies within the mind set and context of these people. Putting it in other words, these people have the wrong attitude towards business and success.

What else could be further from the truth?

There is zero chance for a person with a poor context to succeed in almost anything, Internet Business included.

Quoting a passage from Rich Dad's Retire Young Retire Rich book, "So, where in the old economy, content was king, in the new economy, context is king".

Learning to shift from an old mind set to a new one is more important than what kind of knowledge you gain. And this is true and crucial to your success in growing your Online Business.

Unfortunately, most people do not think that way. This is why the same people fail and later finds someone or something to point their fingers at.

One day, a friend of mine got to know that I was running an Internet Business and am making money. She got quite interested in starting one probably because she was inspired by what I told her. She told me that she wanted to start an Internet Business to earn side income and asked if I could teach and work with her.

Naturally, I was interested. I thought I was ready to start another business in another niche. However, before anything could get started, the situation soured quickly as I charted and explained the draft business plan to my friend.

She was a risk-adverse person by nature so I proposed the least expensive Internet Business Model I gathered from the manual I purchased when I started out myself.

The most I would need to spend on this Internet Business Model are a domain name and a monthly fee on the auto responder. However, she was not ready to fork out the small investment.

I took my friend's answer as a "no" when I told her that since we are investing very little money into the Internet Business, it will demand a lot of work, effort and time on our part before we could see any results.

Needless to say, nothing materialized. And I was glad it did not.

This is a good example of how a weak and wrong mind set can make a person fail even before he or she could start. And in this case, I doubt the business would have been successful even if I had pushed to get it started with her. Not with that type of mind set, that is for sure.

Now, this is a very broad subject that I can only cover so much in this article. Quite simply, it is what you think that is real. What you think determines your success, online or offline.

This is a subject not to be taken lightly. And I do seriously hope that this article has served as an eye-opener to you in one way or another.

There are way too many "how to 101" and "D-I-Y" articles out there. But very few of them seldom touch on the philosophy of having the right attitude towards success and dealing with failure which I personally believe is the most important foundation for any success.

If you have started an Online Business from home and have been working on it for some time with little or no results, your biggest challenge may be your own weak mind set, waiting to bail you out of the chance in the life time to reap the great financial rewards and a chance to make powerful friends on the Internet.

If you are serious about building your mind set positively, here are a couple of great tips you can do almost instantly.

[1] Pick up a copy of Rich Dad Poor Dad at your local bookstores. The book explains in simple English on why (most important!) and how you can become rich. I trust you will develop the right entrepreneurial mind set in time by reading and practicing what is found within the powerful book.

[2] You can subscribe to wealth e-tips newsletter found at www.web-source.net. This is one of the most powerful newsletters on self-enrichment where wealth is concerned that I have ever subscribed to.

The newsletter issues are more context-expanding than content-increasing and I believe this is the most important essence a beginning entrepreneur should have to start with.

All in all, take action with the right mind set. For without it, you will not produce any results. Knowing something but not doing it is the same as not knowing at all!
